Anti-slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

Modern slavery statement 2023

INTRODUCTION

Modern slavery comprises slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking. We all have a responsibility to be alert to the risks, however small, in our business and in the wider supply chain. Our employees are alert to the risks and are expected to report their concerns, and management are expected to act upon them.

  1. organisation structure and supply chains

Mills CNC is an independently owned company based in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. The Company now employs approximately 130 members of staff.

We are the exclusive distributor of DN Solutions machine tools and Doosan Robotics into the UK and Ireland. We supply to a diverse range of companies and sectors: sub-contractors, tiered suppliers and OEMs.

Our main supplier is DN Solutions, based in the Republic of Korea. www.dn-solutions.com

Mills use a limited number of suppliers, based in UK and Ireland.

  1. Policies in relation to slavery and human trafficking

It is our policy to conduct all of our business in an honest and ethical manner.

We take a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery in all its forms (whether slavery, servitude, human trafficking or forced labour). We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency and to put effective systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery taking place within our business or our supply chain.

We will uphold all laws relevant to countering modern slavery in all the jurisdictions in which we operate. However, we remain bound by UK laws, including the Modern Slavery Act 2015, in respect of our conduct both at home and abroad.

  1. Due diligence processes

As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk we:

  • Build long-standing relationships with local suppliers and make clear our expectations of business behaviour.
  • Have a policy of “knowing our customer” to ensure that we are contracting with appropriate businesses.
  • Have a Supplier Code of Conduct, include this within our company website, and communicate it within our purchase orders.
  • In the case of national or international supply chains, our point contact is, wherever possible, with a UK company or branch. We expect these entities to have suitable anti-slavery and human trafficking policies and processes, and to, at minimum, adopt ‘one-up’ due diligence on the next link in the chain. It is not practical for us (and every other participant in the chain) to have direct relationships with all links in the supply chain.
  • We have in place systems to encourage the reporting of concerns and the protection of whistle blowers.
  1. Risk Review and Management

Mills review risks relating to modern slavery at board level. The board regularly review its customer and supply base in the context of modern slavery and trafficking.

  1. Key performance indicators to measure effectiveness of steps being taken

Board level expectation is 100% adherence.

  1. Training on modern slavery and trafficking

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, include our Modern Slavery Policy within our Company Handbook and provide briefings to our directors and employees.

Any employee who breaches this policy will face disciplinary action, which could result in dismissal for misconduct or gross misconduct. We may terminate our relationship with other individuals and organisations working on our behalf if they breach this policy.
