
Mills CNC introduces new SYNERGi T SERIES automation systems for high-mix, low-volume production.
With a rich pedigree of designing and supplying best-in-class, high-productivity automated manufacturing cells and systems to its machine tool customers in the UK and Ireland, Mills CNC has recently introduced its T SERIES – a new range of compact, small footprint ‘Low Volume: High Mix’ automation systems.
The new T SERIES comprises three differently sized and configured systems – T5, T10 and T20 that can be integrated with one or more machine tools to create flexible, high-productivity automated manufacturing cells designed for 24/7 unattended and lights-out production.
T SERIES automated manufacturing cells are inherently versatile, and all (three) systems feature the following technologies and innovations:
- An industrial 6-axis robot with different payload and reach capabilities and, depending on the specific application, a choice of end-of-arm tooling and an array of pneumatic and electronic grippers.
- A sophisticated, servo-driven and space-saving Vertical Lift System, available in different heights, that feature 5, 10 or 20 vertically-stacked two-way, bi-directional drawers that enable high density storage of workpieces and finished parts.
- 5, 10 or 20 individual trays (that go inside each drawer) with configurable grid plates/sockets, to store raw materials (i.e., billets) and finished parts.
- An ergonomic load/unload station incorporating a transfer hatch, positioned at waist height, that enables the fast and safe loading of workpieces and unloading of finished parts.
- Intuitive SYNERGi software, accessed via a 17” touchscreen HMI, that orchestrates, manages and controls all cell operations and functions.
- Safety systems and guarding, including an ultra-sensitive and responsive Light Curtain to protect operators during automated operations.
At the heart of every SYNERGi T SERIES system is Mills CNC’s proprietary SYNERGi software.

SYNERGi software (V6) is intuitive and user-friendly, and drives the whole automation process enabling users to achieve continuous 24/7 lights-out production.
Through a clear and well-designed SYNERGi software touchscreen interface, customers can quickly and easily manage all automation tasks and execute all functions with minimal training.
As well as facilitating trouble-free set ups (achieved in just a few minutes), other features include multi-touch technology and 3D visualisation that enables fast production planning, scheduling and modifications, as well as real-time monitoring, to be achieved in next to no time.
The software’s in-built remote assistance functionality also alerts customers when the automation process has been completed or if the process has been interrupted.
