Mills CNC’s ‘Innovation Day’ technology event attracts over 100 visitors and generates significant multi-tasking machine tool enquiries.
Mills CNC has announced that its Innovation Day technology event, held at the company’s Technology Campus facility in Leamington on Thursday 8th October, was a huge success.
Over 100 visitors attended the one day event and, when there, were able to check out ten advanced DN Solutions multi-tasking machine tools being put through their paces performing a number of challenging machining demonstrations all designed to show-off their high precision cutting capabilities, fast processing speeds and unrivalled flexibility.

Sharing centre stage with the DN Solutions machines and several of Mills’ advanced SYNERGi automation systems, that included the company’s recently-introduced low-volume/high-mix T4 series, was a Heller HF 5500 FLEX horizontal simultaneous 5-axis mill-turn machine.
Equipped with the Siemens SINUMERIK ONE control and a 24” multi-touch screen, the HF 5500 FLEX on show was equipped with a powerful HSK-T (mill-turn) spindle (45kW/12,000rpm/400N-m), a 630mm x 630mm rotary, tilting table and a 50-tool position ATC.
The machine’s “FLEX” designation refers to the machine’s table loading configuration which, unlike some other Heller models, is built without an integrated pallet changer but, instead, features a) fast and flexible table loading access with direct workpiece set up, and b) the ability to integrate the machine with a myriad of external linear or rotary pallet systems for increased productivity.

The HF 5500 FLEX, already a firm favourite with aerospace, automotive and power generation component manufacturers, was set up to machine a large complex aerospace blisk from solid throughout the event.
The machining demonstration was augmented by Heller UK’s General Manager, Tom Hughes, giving a keynote presentation to attendees that covered the Heller brand and the company’s range of high-end technology solutions, as well as a closer, in-depth look at the HF 5500 FLEX.

“The Heller machine proved to be a popular draw for visitors and, along with several DN Solutions machines, that included two DVF 4000 simultaneous 5-axis machining centres and a DNX 2100S mill-turn machine, were the technology stars of the Show.
“I would like to thank staff at Heller, the team at Mills CNC and, of course, all of the 100+ visitors who attended the event for helping to make our Innovation Day technology event such a success.
“We are now actively following up all the leads and enquiries, and I am confident that many of them will, in the next few weeks and months, be transformed into actual sales.”
