Infinite Opportunities Open House

Ground-breaking technology showcased at Mills CNC’s Open House pulls in more than 200 visitors and nets over £500k in machine tool sales during the event.

Mills CNC, the exclusive distributor of Doosan machine tools in the UK and Ireland reported that its recently held Infinite Opportunities Open House (4th & 5th November) was a huge success with over 200 visitors attending the event.

Taking place at the company’s Technology Campus facility in Leamington, Mills used the Open House, the first it has housed for over 10 years, to showcase a number of new Doosan machines to UK and Irish manufacturers. Many of the machines exhibited were making their UK debuts at the event.

Comments Kevin Gilbert, Mills CNC’s managing director:

“Our Infinite Opportunities Open House surpassed expectations and visitor numbers were much higher than anticipated.

“As well as generating machine tool sales worth £800k during the two days the number of serious and genuine sales leads and enquiries taken at the Open House was particularly encouraging – especially as a high percentage of these came from new customers (OEMS through to precision subcontractors) visiting the Campus for the first time.”

Highlights of the Open House included a number of new Doosan machine tools making their debuts at the event, with pride of place going to the new Doosan VCF 850 LSR (5-axis) machining centre and the new Doosan SMX 3100 (mill-turn) machine.

Explains Kevin Gilbert:

“Our new Doosan multi-axis machines certainly proved popular with visitors and this reflects the growing demand amongst manufacturers for high-productivity, multi-tasking Doosan machine tools we have experienced over recent years.”

In addition to showcasing ‘stand-alone’ machines Mills, in collaboration with Fanuc Robots, demonstrated the productivity potential of a small, flexible and automated manufacturing cell by integrating a compact Fanuc M20iA robot with a new Doosan Puma GT2100M lathe.

Concludes Kevin Gilbert:

“Visitor attendance at our Infinite Opportunities Open House was proof-positive that new, innovative and exciting technologies definitely capture the imagination of manufacturers.

“Over the next few days we will be following-up the many leads taken during the event and will be devoting our attention to next year’s MACH Show where we have one of the largest stands and where we will be exhibiting 18 Doosan machines to visitors.”
